Corporate partner Jonathan Leigh-Hunt and Corporate associate Fran Spooner advised Procam in connection with the acquisition by one of its group companies of the camera rental business, and the complete camera and grip inventory and camera and grip staff, of Take 2 Film Holdings.
The acquisition is Procam’s fourth acquisition since a management buy out in May 2013, which MH also advised on, and comes just 12 months after Procam’s acquisition of US-based HotCam New York in March 2015.
Headquartered in London, with additional facilities in Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow, and now the UK’s largest cinematography and broadcast hire company, Procam has been providing camera equipment, kit, crew, project management and training to many of the biggest broadcasters, production companies and blue chip organisations throughout the UK and internationally for over 20 years.
Established in 1999, Take 2 is a leading supplier of digital and film camera equipment, advice and support to high-profile motion picture and episodic TV series, including The King’s Speech, The Imitation Game and Wolf Hall, and US shows shot in the UK.
Procam hopes that this acquisition will accelerate the expansion of its business in the high-end episodic drama and feature markets, the launch of the Take 2 brand in Los Angeles and the development of new lenses.
“The future is bright for Take 2,” said John Brennan, group CEO, of Procam. “It is a well-established brand and its highly-respected team now have the additional infrastructure and resources to move the company forward to the next stage, at home and abroad. Procam has successfully taken root in New York, and following the recent extension of tax credits enabling cost-efficient filming in California, we’re looking at taking the Take 2 brand to the US West Coast.”
The MH team comprised Jonathan Leigh-Hunt, Fran Spooner, Brett Israel, Simon Orriss and Olga Ayers (Corporate), Mark Lavers (Property), Bob Cordran and Katherine de Souza (Employment) and Aideen Burke (IP/Media).
